From Summer to Fall

Hello there,

this was a much longer break than I  intended to take. Summer came rolling by and we had to deal with some heavier family stuff.  So it was  nice and necessary to be lazy, to enjoy time off-line and more time with my kiddos whenever possible.

I have noticed over the years that after September 15th ( which is my big boy's birthday,  he made the double digits this year-sigh) a new rythm forms again and I want to be back at the desk blogging, editing and of course painting.

So here I am. Starting anew while still integrating all beautiful things that happened over  summer.

Beginning is always a little scary and the white piece of watercolor could not be any whiter.  But I am trying to remember that beginnings are also an amazing opportunity to be brave and open and discover new possiblities. The fall equinox is around the corner, a new season is beginning so timing couldn't be better.

And I just remembered this beautiful poem by John O'Donohue that was read to us during an amazing yoga retreat in Nantucket.

For a New Beginning

In out-of-the-way places of the heart,
Where your thoughts never think to wander,
This beginning has been quietly forming,
Waiting until you were ready to emerge.
For a long time it has watched your desire,
Feeling the emptiness growing inside you,
Noticing how you willed yourself on,
Still unable to leave what you had outgrown.
It watched you play with the seduction of safety
And the gray promises that sameness whispered,
Heard the waves of turmoil rise and relent,
Wondered would you always live like this.
Then the delight, when your courage kindled,
And out you stepped onto new ground,
Your eyes young again with energy and dream
A path of plenitude opening before you.
Though your destination is not yet clear
You can trust the promise of this opening;
Unfurl yourself into the grace of beginning
That is at one with your life’s desire.
Awaken your spirit to adventure;
Hold nothing back, learn to find ease in risk;
Soon you will be home in a new rhythm,
For your soul senses the world that awaits you.

I also wanted to share what I did work on over the summer. A good friend asked me to make a few illustrations for her online magazine. You can see the whole beautiful magazine here.

I made cards and prints of these illustrations, which are being printed as we speak.

Contact me if you are interested in purchasing any of them (or other artwork for that matter).  I will be soon selling my stuff at the beautiful art fair at the Charles Rivers School in Dover, MA. More info about that soon.

And finally a new mix for a new season. Happy Fall Equinox everyone!
