ART
I am an artist, author, illustrator and yoga teacher living outside of Boston with my family.
Defining myself has never felt easy but here are a few notes about my life paths.
I grew up in Germany, lived for 4 years in Mexico City, where I received a BA in Psychology but also started my journey into art. From there I moved onto Cambridge, MA in 2001 to study at Lesley University. I hold a MA in Art Therapy and have studied many classes at the SMfA (School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston) to further my skills in illustration and different types of media. When my husband was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2003, I shifted my focus almost entirely on making art. Not the easiest choice while caring for him and raising two boys but I am so glad I did. He since has recovered, my boys are teenagers and I am ready to take my career to another level. This year I have worked on illustrating a Yin Yoga Book that is slated to be published by Singing Dragon in 2022.
I certainly have a wandering and curious mind, a pretty positive outlook on life and according to my friend a turquoise aura. I speak German, Spanish and English fluently, have some knowledge of French and think it’s about time to learn another language. I love to travel and learn from other countries and cultures. My art is inspired by nature, mindfulness and all that is beautiful around us and I hope to elevate the seemingly mundane to something special. Afterall,
The little things? The little moments? They aren’t little. -John Kabat Zinn
I work mostly in watercolor and collage. For illustrations I often add digital media.
YOGA
I teach yoga classes at Laughing Dog Yoga in Wellesley as well as private classes. Most of my classes are pretty slow- a meditation in motion really - allowing you to disconnect from the noise of the outside world and tune into your body and soul. I hope to meet you on the mat one day.
